Trump: ‘Open-Border Extremists’ Oppose ICE, Border Patrol

-RealClearPolitics
Steve Cortes tells a tale of two Americas: “the concerns of Mainstream Media vs. those of Main Street USA.” Those worlds couldn’t be more different. “Far from New York newsrooms and the Georgetown salons of Washington lobbyists, Americans grasp the reality of a stronger and more prosperous country,” Cortes explains.

Leia Klingel reports that U.S. stocks have set a record for the longest bull market in history. “Many believe it has plenty of room to run. Consumer spending makes up about two-thirds of U.S. economic growth, and economic data shows that consumers are confident in their finances.”

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement early Tuesday deported a former Nazi SS labor camp guard to Germany, pursuant to a 2004 deportation order,” Pete Kasperowicz reports. “Jakiw Palij, 95, had lived in Queens, N.Y., for decades, according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders. She said President Trump prioritized Palij's deportation after ‘extensive negotiations’ with Germany.”

Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Terry Virts, who served as commander of the International Space Station, explains the importance of President Trump’s vision for a sixth branch of our military. “There has been a fair amount of criticism stemming from a lack of understanding about what such a force would be,” Virts says.

“President Donald Trump on Wednesday awarded the Medal of Honor to the widow of John Chapman, a U.S. Air Force technical sergeant, who died at 36 in Afghanistan,” Caroline Simon reports. “In this final act of supreme courage, John gave his life for his fellow warriors,” President Trump said at a ceremony in the White House.

Acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler breaks down how under the Trump Administration’s new Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) rule, “the era of top-down, one-size-fits-all federal mandates is over.” Unlike the Obama-era Clean Power Plan—which was formally disapproved in a bipartisan act of Congress—the ACE rule appreciates that “reliable and affordable energy is the foundation of America’s strength.”

“President Donald Trump praised the actions of federal immigration agents Monday and denounced ‘open-borders extremists,’” Fred Lucas reports. “Any politician who puts criminal aliens before American citizens should find a new line of work,” the President said at a ceremony honoring immigration law enforcement officers.

The most recent attempt by the left to discredit Judge Brett Kavanaugh? “A detailed New Yorker analysis of his college sports reporting three decades ago,” Brian Flood writes, “which quotes one academic, somehow, asserting that Kavanaugh’s college basketball articles show he would endorse ‘unlimited Presidential power.’”

USA : The life-saving missions of ICE

The Day Ahead

President Donald J. Trump hosts a Salute to the Heroes of ICE and CBP, recognizing the dangerous, important work of America’s border officers. Watch live at 3 p.m. ET.

The life-saving missions of ICE

From saving victims from human smugglers, drug cartels, and criminal gangs to protecting American citizens from crime spilling across our border, President Trump understands the dangerous conditions our border officers face each day. To show his appreciation for their service, the President will highlight the life-saving missions of these heroes today in an event at the White House.
Even with widespread public support for ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement), many Democrats have embraced the previously fringe position that the agency should be abolished. A recent POLITICO/Morning Consult poll revealed that even with the left’s recent push, only a quarter of Americans want ICE eliminated.
The heroes who protect our borders are a vital piece of our national security. Getting rid of ICE would be devastating to the safety of American families, particularly those living in communities across the Southwestern United States. Our border officers are the first line of defense for these vulnerable Americans: During the 2017 fiscal year, ICE arrested more than 127,000 aliens with criminal convictions or charges.
President Trump promised that he would secure our borders and keep our communities safe. Today, he is honoring the public servants who risk it all to help achieve that.

The far left turns desperate on Judge Kavanaugh

As Judge Brett Kavanaugh continues to draw rave reviews from the legal community and those who know him best, a few liberal Democrats are grasping at straws in their attempt to discredit his nomination.
In National Review, David French highlights one particularly desperate—and shoddy—attempt, assisted by The New York Times. “There is no indication at all that the Times reached out to one of the key players in this whole drama,” French explains. “The Times got comment from [Democratic Senators] Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein, but not from a key witness.”
“So I picked up the phone and called him,” French writes. “Once again, the Left has taken a swing at one of the most qualified SCOTUS nominees in history. Once again, it has missed.”

REAL NEWS PRESIDENT TRUMP DOESN'T WANT YOU TO MISS

-The Washington Times
“President Trump signed a $716 billion defense bill Monday that authorizes hundreds of new planes, ships and tanks — and delivers a substantial victory to the administration,” Dave Boyer reports. President Trump called the new National Defense Authorization Act “the most significant investment in our military, and in our warfighters, in modern history” while speaking to troops at Fort Drum, New York.

-The Wall Street Journal
Andrew Duehren reports that “the unemployment rate among young Americans fell to its lowest level in more than 50 years this summer,” according to the Department of Labor. “Low unemployment among young people shows that in a tight labor market more opportunities are opening to groups that historically have struggled to find jobs.”
-National Review
“Brett Kavanaugh may well be one of the most qualified jurists ever nominated for the High Court,” David French writes. “Once again, the Democrats have taken their swing at an outstanding nominee. Once again, they’ve missed.”

-Fox Business
Leia Klingel writes that “small business owners’ optimism touched a 35-year high in July, with businesses setting records in terms of job creation and hiring,” according to a new survey from the National Federation of Independent Business. “In July 2018, the NFIB’s Small Business Optimism Index marked its second highest level in the survey’s 45-year history.”
-Washington Examiner
“Federal agencies, led by Labor and Health and Human Services, are cutting Obama-era regulations and saving money faster than demanded by President Trump,” Paul Bedard reports, citing a new report from the American Action Forum. “As a result, the administration is expected to easily meet the president’s order to cut at least two old regulations for every new one issued.”
-The Wall Street Journal
“Americans are smart enough to know a better economy when they see one,” The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes. “Apparently Americans are believing their own eyes”—not negative political spin.
-The Des Moines Register
“After years of slow growth and stagnant wages under the last administration, under this president, the American economy is on track to grow at its fastest pace in nearly 15 years,” Vice President Mike Pence writes.
-Boston Globe
Attorney General Jeff Sessions writes that in response to President Trump’s plan to halt the opioid crisis, the Justice Department has begun Operation Synthetic Opioids Surge (SOS). “Under Operation SOS, I am ordering our prosecutors in 10 districts with some of the highest overdose death rates to prosecute every synthetic opioid trafficking case, no matter how small.”
-Washington Examiner
“Americans increasingly want the Senate to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to a new Quinnipiac poll,” Becket Adams writes. “The growing support from Kavanaugh is coming primarily from independents.”

“The National Defense Authorization Act is the most significant investment in our military and our warfighters in modern history,”

USA President Donald J. Trump delivers remarks prior to signing the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 at the Wheeler-Sack Army Air Field in Fort Drum, NY | August 13, 2018

Small businesses are a key driver of our economy. When they succeed, so does America. More than 99 percent of U.S. businesses are small businesses, and they employ a full 48 percent of the American workforce.

Last month, the Trump Boom put small businesses on the cusp of yet another economic record. Small business owner optimism hit a 35-year high in July—just one-tenth of a point shy of the highest level in the survey’s 45-year history. The all-time record was achieved in July 1983 during the height of the Reagan Revolution.
Much like Reagan, President Donald J. Trump is shattering old assumptions about America’s economy. The result is a golden age for small businesses, SBA Administrator Linda McMahon writes. “The unemployment rate is a healthy 4 percent, with more Americans entering the job market . . . And for the first time on record, there are more job openings than unemployed people looking for work.”

‘We are not backing down’

When President Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) yesterday, he accomplished four important things: delivering on a pledge to rebuild our Military, honoring a commitment to put Service Members and their families first, ensuring America is ready to defend against the threats of today and tomorrow, and funding critical operations with our allies.
“The National Defense Authorization Act is the most significant investment in our military and our warfighters in modern history,” the President said at yesterday’s signing at Fort Drum in New York. “After years of devastating cuts, we’re now rebuilding our military like we never have before, ever.”
Echoing the words of Gen. George Patton, President Trump said America should never just “hold its position”—it should always be advancing. “America is on the move once again, and we are not backing down.”
